Liverpool's song "you'll never walk alone" is the most famous in football. Because of the culture and story of support for the team through the decades (there is a LOT of history, including some stadium disasters which claimed lives, etc. and mourning, injustice, etc. etc. etc.), plus many famous European nights (Champions League) down the decades, that song is the most famous and most emotional/spine-chilling in football. Even for opposition players.

Hey over there in the US! I did just found the way on your channel through a few videos about football (or soccer how it's called on the other side of the ocean) and noticed how impressed you are about that sport. Since football is even more for the fans than just the game I would like to show u this (oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-UUS3paRE9Xg.html) It's a video from Connor Sullivan, a young college football player, that moved to Germany and visits his first soccer match, not knowing that he is comming strict into one of the most intense rivalries in GER. The atmosphere is something that "we write big" (Wird bei uns groß geschrieben ;) ). I hope u enjoy it! Greetings from Germany!

Hey Ethan. Funny to start to be a soccer fan in older age. You´ve already watched the big names of football and two monsters (Cr7 and Messi). If u like dribble, i will suggest one of the most exquisite players in the world, Ricardo Quaresma. It´s portuguese player, more skillfull than Ronaldo. It´s like Alan Iverson, someone with everything to be greatest and he had some issues in his career. He played very young in Barcelona, it´s from Sporting (same squad where Ronaldo started his career) and played in Porto (portuguese league), Inter (italian league) and now he is playing in Besiktas (Turkish league). Please just watch him, because u will not see no one scoring goals with his technique (trivela shoot, with outside part of the foot) and provoque the opponent as he provoque.

Hi Ethan. I love the journey you're on in respect of discovering football - the global sport. Your videos are a must watch and I love your enthusiasm for the sport along with your obvious desire to learn more about the great game. How about a reaction video to Henrik Larsson, one of the most prolific strikers in the European game during the last 30 years? His top flight career ran from 1988 until 2013 and took him from his home country of Sweden (Hogaborg, Helsingborg), The Netherlands (Feyenoord), Scotland (Celtic), Spain (Barcelona), England (Manchester United), then back home to Sweden (Helsingborg, Hogaborg). In his club career he played 576 games, scoring 325 goals, better than a goal every two games. His most prolific spell was his 7 years at Celtic, scoring 174 goals in 221 games. In 2000-01 season he won the European Golden Shoe as Europe's top scoring player with 53 goals in a season. Trophies won in his career include 1 Swedish Cup, 2 Dutch Cups, 4 Scottish Cups & 4 Scottish Championship Titles, 1 Spanish Cup & 2 Spanish Championship Titles, 1English Championship Title. He also won the Champions League Trophy while at Barcelona, providing assists for both Barcelona's goals in their 2-1 win over Arsenal. He played 106 times for Sweden at International level scoring 36 goals and starred at 3 European Championships (Euros) and 3 World Cups, helping Sweden to a 3rd place finish in World Cup 94 while scoring Goal of the Tournament at Euro 04. He is considered by most judges to be one of the greatest all around strikers of his era, being both a superb team player as well as prolific goalscorer, deadly with both left and right foot as well as with his head. Solid clips to view are: Henrik Larsson - A Legend, A King, A Hero - oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-D8UtodtlECw.html HENRIK LARSSON | Helsingborg, Feyenoord, Celtic, Barcelone,MU | Best Moments - oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-KKwndh084vw.html HENRIK LARSSON BEST GOALS EVER AMAZING GOALS SHOW HD - oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-vKSlTEhZra8.html I'd love to see you feature one of these on your channel. Just started following your videos recently. Great to see your reactions and appreciation to football players! You certainly started off with great players. May I suggest checking out Kaká: oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-mwMWTcCTIjo.html Couple of reasons why Kaká: - Before Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi shared the Best Player of the Year Award for last 10 years (5 each), Kaká was the last recipient in 2007 (an award won by players such as Zidane, Ronaldinho and the Brazilian Ronaldo) - In his prime, he was unstoppable and one of my favorite players to watch. Playing as an attacking midfielder, he had lightning acceleration, great dribbling ability without the showboating (but still had great skill being a Brazilian), had the ability to provide defense splitting passes, and was able to score spectacular goals (solo goals and consistent goals from distance). Just as you said Zidane was so elegant and had the grace of a ballet dancer, Kaka glides through defenses at full speed like knife through butter and usually takes the most direct and fastest route to the goal. - He was the first sportsperson to amass 10 million followers on Twitter - He recently retired after playing in the MLS for Orlando City (and was the captain of the MLS All Star Game) - He is an all around nice and humble guy (youngest person to serve as an Ambassador Against Hunger for the United Nations' World Food Programme)

Hello! I've been watching your videos for a while now and I really admire your honesty in all of them. What my eye caught is that you react to a lot of European Football videos and football players. Since I don't think there is an option that I can message you privately can I suggest a video that you can react to? I am from Bulgaria, small country in Europe. Our football is not top, far from it even, but our fans are insane and supportive every day of the week 24/7. My hometown team from Sofia (Bulgaria capitol) - PFC Levski Sofia is one of the top teams in the country (and a team close to my heart as well). Back in 24th of May 2014, PFC Levski Sofia had its 100th birthday. And we partied in style. I am providing you with two videos that were made during that time. 1. oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-usaoAk2SICg.html 100 Years Levski (2:02) 2. oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-mOyaLtuR6aU.html Century of Levski (6:22) This one captures more of what happened during the day. The football match that took place was in Sofia, on the National Stadium Vasil Levski. We played against Italian club - SS Lazio. Our clubs and fans are friends. It would mean a lot if you can react either of them. If you are wondering during the videos on why there are almost no people on the opposite sector (Sector G), it is because our main faction from the fans are from Sector B, while Sector G are for our biggest rival club - CSKA Sofia (their main fans are in Sector G). So yeah, again it would mean a lot if you can check them out :)

Hi Ethan, Could you react to some cricket? I think starting with catches is the easiest to understand. Here are the top 10 catches of Ricky Ponting, former Australian captain and one of the best fielders of all time. oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-U423wOQVM2c.html And a bonus catch from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after he retired from international cricket. oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-P53XCNBN1vk.html Apart from being a good catcher, he was an excellent ground fielder and was very good in getting run outs. oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-kZZLFMZ3Wyw.html The aim of the run out is to use the ball to dislodge one of the bails (horizontal pieces on the top of the stumps) before the batsman was able to make his ground (get bat or body grounded behind the line). This could be done by throwing to another fielder standing near the stumps, who could then remove the bail, or by hitting the stumps directly. The latter is what Ponting was famous for. And some batting Ponting 98 in the first T20 (20 overs = 120 balls/pitches each team) international match oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-tX2ofW8jEb8.html And perhaps his finest innings, the World Cup Final 2003 oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-TkfeqTG7MVs.html The fastest ODI (50 overs = 300 balls/pitches per team) century by AB de Villiers oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-HK6B2da3DPA.html One of the best fast bowling innings in recent times was by Mitchel Johnson against England in 2013. oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-HLrvJngq_xE.html

Hey Ethan, arguably the greatest VFL/AFL Grand FINAL ever was 1989 Hawthorn vs Geelong. A one sided game that turned into a thriller between two arch rivals. It was open warfare - possibly the most brutal game ever played with many players deliberately smashed and playing with broken bones and leaking organs. Several went to hospital straight after the game rather than to the pub to celebrate. It features Gary Ablett, the game's greatest player known as 'God'. Gary has the greatest individual performance in a grand final ever - on a losing side! Crazy, heh?! It's so very well captured in the gripping documentary oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-cHqafEsTRl8.html The doco captures the true essence of the game. Are they gladiators or footy players? One thing for sure there is no-one that tough anymore. Enjoy and look forward to your feedback. Cheers John

Hey mate, love the AFL videos. It's great to see you enjoying them so much. It's also fantastic timing with Mason Cox playing so well (and being a great bloke too... check out his twitter). While he's the best, Coxy wasn't the first American to debut in the AFL. Jason Holmes (brother of Andre from Buffalo Bills) debuted for St Kilda a few years ago. Unfortunately he isn't on a list anymore, but there is a really sweet video made before he debuted ( oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-Q2M0aQpgRaE.html ) and one made that chronicled his debut ( oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-oPypJPAzFW8m.html ). They're probably not reaction worthy videos, but worth checking out anyway. Hopefully the 2 boys pave the way for more Americans to take up the sport. We've had a lot of Irish boys come over and dominate the game, one of them even won the highest individual award for best and fairest in the competition (Jim Stynes - look him up, its a beautiful and heartbreaking story). I know there are local AFL teams around the place in the States. They do an international cup with teams from all over the world. You should give it a go mate, it's so much fun.

Hey mate, have a look at the 2012 Grand Final between Sydney Swans and Hawthorn Hawks! was one of the most intense and exciting games I've ever been to worth a watch just to see how quickly the scoreline can change. Keep up the good work on your videos!

Hey Ethan - Just to give you some info on the "free kicks" 'cause you asked about it during your West Coast/Melbourne stream (I didn't realise you were doin' that, otherwise I would've joined you!). Most frees are given because of tackles. If a player has possession of the ball, has prior opportunity to get it away but gets tackled before that happens, that's called "Holding the Ball" and a free kick is paid to the tackler. However if the tackle is above the shoulders, or below the knees, or it pushes the player in the back, or is a dangerous "sling" tackle - then the player with the ball gets the free. These are called either "Too High" or "In The Back" or whatever the case may be. If it's a fair tackle, and there was no prior opportunity, then the umpire will throw the ball up, similar to the centre square bounce after a goal. Other frees get paid during a marking contest, if someone pushes a player in the back or chops their arms while they're trying to mark, they get penalised. Of course, all of this happens very quickly (In comparison to NFL, where they throw flags and then the penalty comes after a detailed explanation - a huge difference to the two sports in my observation) - and of course, it's subject to interpretation by the umpires, which makes a lot of people unhappy. All the time. There's more free kicks, of course, but these are the kind that happen regularly over the course of play.

the "prior opportunity" part is worth repeating (pretty sure it's also unique to Aussie rules footy), so i'll repeat it! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_of_Australian_rules_football

Oh, also you can't tackle someone if they don't have possession, nor can you hold on to your opponent or their jumper while they're attempting to mark. Again, some of these are contentious - but that's the nature of free kicks :)

Before you watch the Richmond v Collingwood highlights, you should know Collingwood went in to the game as massive underdogs, and Collingwood number 46 Mason Cox is an American who grew up playing basketball and has only been playing Aussie Rules for about 3 or 4 years

The Collingwood v Richmond game is on tonight at 7:50pm AEST. Tickets didn't even go to sale for the game because they were all bought up by members of the MCG. Watch a full game so you can understand the rules as you go through. If the MCG could fit 150,000 people it would have sold out for tonights game.

Who ever told you that Collingwood have been the most recent dominant team lied to you im afraid. They have been far from the dominant team but they have played well this year. Richmond have been the most recent dominant team the past two years. Hawthorn before that in the Mid 2010's. Geelong in the late 2000's and Brisbane in the early 2000's.

It's so tough to pick a team before the 2018 grand final but here's a quick guide to help: Richmond: last years winners (don't pick them, you'll look like you only follow the winning team/bandwagon jumper) Adelaide: last years first losers (they will find any reason why they lost other than they weren't good enough) Collingwood: Must have less than 3 teeth to support them Port Adelaide: Wannabe Collingwood/magpies (nobody really knows why) Melbourne: (Pronounced Mel-Ben) Snobs, but also who every wants to win this year unless their team is still in. Sydney: (pronounced Sid-knee) Interstate snobs, has to buy a Buddy because they don't have any friends. West Coke: Put heaps of money into their facilities, still a sniff (dunno if thats of this years flag or something else #Cousins). Essendon: "2012 drug scandal AFL", google it Fremantle: shit version of west coast Brisbane: weren't bad 15 years ago, unfortunately don't know the rules now Gold Coast: a bit like Brisbane, but were never good and only just entered the comp a few years ago GWS: If you supported them, you would double there supporter base North Melbourne: They are known as the kangaroos because they are about as smart as a kangaroo around a country road. Carlton: Currently in their 18th season of re-builduing. "Next year should be the year" Geelong: Buys superstars that are past their prime #Dangerlett Western Bulldogs: Everyone's second favourite team (for good reason) Hawthorn: They are at every game dressed in green; 2 in the goal, 3 in the middle and 4 on the boundary. St Kilda: If you are a scatologist, this is the team for you

Hey Ethan - lovin' your AFL videos. Good to see that you're learning the rules and enjoying the spectacle that is Aussie Rules footy. I'm a huge West Coast fan, so I'm keen to see your reactions in the coming weeks. In a similar vein, I'm currently in a NFL fantasy football league with some American friends - currently on top and kickin' ass! Drafting Patrick Mahomes from the Chiefs is workin' wonders for me.

Australian rules football has been around since 1859. The professional league was established in 1897 then known as the VFL. The VFL was rebranded to AFL in 1990. Footy is also played by thousands of people all around Australia. The town that I live in has 2 football teams. That is the very basic explanation.

Love the AFL reaction vids man. Now that you've reacted to a number of aspects to the game and may undertand the scoring system a bit more 6 points for a goal, 1 point for a behind as you may remember from the 'AFL Rules Explained' video. I would like to request, if possible, you should watch best finals moment some of them are the best games of Aussie Rules footy I have ever seen. The video is called 'Top 10 AFL Finals Moments- Since 2000' I was lucky enough to be at number 5 on the list as the winning team supporter it was the best feeling in the world. If you decide to watch it just know if someone takes a mark and the siren sounds the player is allowed to take his kick.

to answer your question about the AFL mark video, a mark is given on a technicality. Usually the player must have control of ball for 1-3 seconds without interference for the mark to be paid. The reason players are able to be given the mark after having released the ball is because marks are given if it seems the player would have still had possession of the ball if no external interference were present. External factors can include collision with the floor, goal posts, friendly or opposing players after the mark has been taken. A mark is only NOT paid if an opposing playing is able to knock/punch the ball "clean" out of the players hands, without touching the player in the process, in that 1-3 second period, OR the umpires are under the impression that the player did not have clear control of the ball

Your AFL marks video, number 3, if you watch the video he did take position of the ball in the air he draws in to his chest but you obviously see it falls out on impact, more often than not umpires will award that a mark, Number 2 is better than number 1 like you said not just because the guy that took that is in my team haha but he was a very small compact player that lacked the physical and athletic attributes other players had over him, so a freakish effort, but for mine number 6 was the best one in that package, running back with the flight of the ball is the hardest most courageous thing a player can do and for Nick Riewoldt to hang on to that was insane. oldtimeynerd.net/v-video-0ZsKuwXpezo.html check out Liam Walters here and Isaac Heeney 4:30 onwards in this video 2 of the best this season
